Self storage is extremely popular with just about everyone at the moment. Businesses, sole traders, startups, families, students – there aren’t many people who wouldn’t benefit from extra space. And that is the key point really – space. We pay so much money for tiny bedrooms in built up areas, we spend money on bigger homes for our expanding families, we are always willing to pay more money for more space – space is valuable. But not everybody can afford to buy a bigger house, work in a bigger office, or use entire rooms for storage just for seasonal goods. Which is exactly where self storage comes in. It is like a cheap, flexible, easily accessible extension to your home, office or business. Sure it isn’t with you directly, but that’s about the only real difference. Self storage truly is an excellent solution to a key problem faced by many people – a lack of space.
When it comes to storage we all have different needs. From small spaces to large ones, a unit really depends on what it is we need to put away. Many people like to keep their excess clutter in a unit, or use it as a loft away from home. For those that own small businesses, it can be an absolute lifesaver for those whose offices are starting to get cluttered. Even those moving house may need a storage unit, if only temporarily, to make the process easier and get some of their possessions out of the way for moving day. There are so many reasons people need to use storage units, and that is why it is vital that you seriously compare several of them. At Go Compare Storage, we ensure that it’s not just the price that is compared, but the features that come with the unit itself. Here are some tips for finding the best storage unit for you.
Many restaurant owners naturally buy in bulk which, of course, saves money but all of that stock takes up a lot of space often when there isn’t much space to spare. Here we look at easy, accessible solutions for this common predicament and look at how decluttering a restaurant or café is easier to achieve than you might think.
When you own cafe or restaurant it clearly makes sense to buy large amounts of stock at a time i.e. buying in bulk. This ensures you get the best possible deal on each item you need to purchase and means you save the most money possible and you have backup stock to meet unexpected busy periods or fluctuations in demand.
Toys are wonderful things, designed to provide fun, memories and smiles whilst children hold them dear. The thing is, only a few toys tend to be forever. More often than not, when a child grows older, toys become unwanted and so they become unnecessary clutter for the home. This means valuable playing space is taken up, which is never a good thing. Or perhaps you have so many old toys your entire spare room, garage or loft is full of them. Whatever your situation, we have some great tips to help you store old toys so they don’t take over your home.

There are some who would argue that if we don’t have space for something in our own home then we should simply get rid of it. There are certainly benefits to de-cluttering (having a clutter-free, organised home can definitely make for a calmer, less stressful life) but sometimes there are things that we don’t want in our homes, or don’t have space for, that are not technically “clutter”. This could be family heirlooms, treasured pieces of furniture just waiting until we can move to a bigger home. It could be a hobby collection of pretty much anything that there is no longer room for in the home as our families grow, not to mention seasonal items like lawnmowers, snowboards or Christmas decorations.
As with any product or service that you might buy there are different levels of choice and quality. But although people are fond of quoting the old adage “you get what you pay for” most consumers now recognise that is not always the case – take for instance the proliferation of die-hard high-end supermarket customers now regularly doing part of their weekly shop at a well-known small German supermarket. Many a food snob is now singing the praises of those items with labels they would not have recognised a year ago.
And the same is true of self storage – there are those well-known companies that by dint of marketing hype persuade customers they are getting a great deal but when you look more closely at costs and features it starts to become clear that there are better deals to be had with the smaller facilities. If you do subsequently find you could get a better deal elsewhere never fear – you may not have the hassle of moving all your stuff from one provider to the next, as some offer a free collection and delivery service so will do all the lifting and carrying for you.
So as with supermarkets it really pays to shop around, but whatever self storage provider you choose in the end there are some essential things you should check before signing on the dotted line:
